8.20.24
This week is Family Sunday. Our service will look much the same, minus the sermon. And our liturgy and music will be more “kid-friendly”. At City Church, we recognize that our kids are the next generation of leaders in our community. I have personally witnessed the growth and development of several of our current elders from their days as kids creating chaos in the church. And there’s nothing more amazing than seeing them take on the faith of their parents and pass it on to the next generation. This is how the Psalmist puts it in Psalm 71:
As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds,
of your saving acts all day long— though I know not how to relate them all.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord;
I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.
Since my youth, God, you have taught me,
and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation,
your mighty acts to all who are to come.
Please be in prayer this week for our kids. Pray that they may encounter Jesus at an early age. And pray that his love would be born in their hearts and grow more and more each day.
